Feb 17, Puerto Madryn

Docked at about 7.30 this morning, had a leisurely breakfast and headed to shore to see what was on offer for a tour or two. Ended up hiring a Taxi to take us out to Punta Loma to visit a sea lion colony, it was about a 25 minute ride to a series of sandstone cliffs with beautiful sandy beaches where the colony was sunbathing on a magnificent 33deg day, just what we needed after a week or more of freezing weather in the Antarctic. After a 45 minute visit we headed back to town to have a look around, it is quite a large town with plenty of shopping, restaurants and bars all along a beautiful sandy tidal beach coastline, the beaches were crowded with campers out of town and with families in town. They were launching and retrieving boats using tractors to get across the tidal flats.  Back to the boat for some lunch and an afternoon nap, this holidaying is such a hard life. We have a day at sea tomorrow and then land in Montevideo on Tuesday the 19th.
