Feb 03, Puerto Chacabuco

Another beautiful day today with a top temperature expected to be 34 the captain informed us that the weather has been exceptional, and today will be one of the hottest days that Puerto Chacabuco has ever had, it’s one of only a few towns in the Chilean Fjords very small but very scenic. The ship was anchored in a beautiful cove with amazing scenery all around us, we tendered off the ship and joined our tour to the town of Coyhaique the capital of the Ayse’n region. We followed the Simpson River through the valley with more amazing views, the guide on the bus was very informative about the history of this area in Patagonia. Had a look around the town then back on the bus to a restaurant for a snack and a Pisco Sour which is their national drink I quite enjoyed it, Pete doesn’t. After this we went to the Simpson River Reserve which was beautiful and you could walk through the trees down to the river with dramatic views of the river, canyon and valley, from there we went to see the 65 foot waterfall and made our way back to the port and onboard in time you guessed it for happy hour. After dinner we watched the Super Bowl as they had no show on tonight lucky we like grid iron we even had some tasty empanadas for supper.
